Meadow Saxifrage – Saxifraga granulata

Meadow Saxifrage (Saxifraga granulata) is a member of the Saxifrage family. It can reach a height of 40 cm on a sparsely leaved stem that is covered in gladular hairs. The flower is typically white and roughly 2 – 3 cm wide, 9 – 16mm long with 5 petals.

The leaves are alternate on the lower part of the stem, with long stalked leaves. the blade of the leaf is almost kidney shaped with arge toothed edges and sparsely haired.
The flowers are small and delicate, in a pure white colour, with its kidney shaped leaves, this is what helps to make this plant distinctive.

Flowering Time: April to June
Preferred Conditions: This plant prefers moist well drained base soil that is neutral and it can also be found in well grazed grasslands and meadows.
